Journal #9

My novel is a "coming of age" novel because it speaks about issues that teens go through. Some of the stories I could actually relate to. For example, there were stories about mother and father realtionships and a lot of them were about teen image. After reading some of the stories, my eyes would open up to so many issues and emotions that other teens have. There was one story that I read in the book that was called "Mirros". It was one of the first stories that I read in the book and I was touched so much because I could feel everything that the author described. The feeling of looking in the mirror and dealing with remarks made by you mom. It hurts. & as I kept reading I could bring up inccidents that I went through that were very similar to what the author was feeling. A couple years ago I don't think I would be able to connect the stories or even understand some of the issues that they bring up in the story.

  1. HI Niki,
Good job of making specific connections with essays in the book. Insightful comment, too, about how a couple of years ago, you may not have identified with many of these stories.
